About ANKST

Formed late in 2006 by members Raymond Ross, Dylan Van Coller, Aiden Botha and joined later by Noel Hall, ANKST was originally a concept project intended to provide Durban with their very own Traditional Goth band. The idea was to stick to the original "recipe" and create a strait-down-the-line Trad Goth band, borrowing heavily from the likes of The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, The Wake and various other first and second generation Goth bands. Although these influences come through as intended, there is something very original about the band that is very difficult to single out.

In May 2008, due to personal differences, Van Collar chose to bow out and was replaced by David Van Tonder (ex Faux). Malcolm Silver (ex Clone) soon took the place of Noel Hall as ANKST's bass guitarist.

The four members of ANKST are extremely diverse with very different musical influence. Ross (vocals) has been part of the Gothic subculture for almost 20 years. Botha (guitar) is deeply involved in the South African Metal scene and also writes and plays guitar for Metal band "Theater Runs Red". Together with his girlfriend Ebony (vocalist for Theater), create the most incredible Gothic clothing, corsets, jewelry, collars and bags under the well known Aevil Clothing banner. Van Tonder, previously a Goth DJ in Durban also used to be the vocalist in SA Synthpop band Faux as well as co-writing many of their songs. Silver, the most recent member of ANKST is fresh out of SA Punks band Clone after their unfortunate breakup
